Roxanne's Story

“You can’t keep running away!” Roxanne said to herself as she wrestled with the thought of having a third abortion ten years ago. Then a friend told her about Life Forward where she could get a referral for an ultrasound. With the appointment for an abortion still scheduled, she contacted Life Forward. She was nervous but received a warm welcome from the center staff. “I didn’t feel shamed or judged. The staff gave me the facts so I could make my decision. They were there for me regardless of my choices and told me that I didn’t have to be alone in this.”

Roxanne believed “God intervened at that pivotal moment” and she had her ultrasound that same day. She looked at the monitor and saw her baby girl wave her tiny hand across the screen. Roxanne knew that this was a sign and she chose to spare the life of her baby. All her fears “turned into excitement and joy.” Today, Laiya is a healthy and vibrant ten-year-old girl.

Ten years ago, we helped her make her final decision not to have an abortion and today we continue to be a part of God’s plan for Roxanne’s life. In preparation for the birth of her youngest daughter Aaliyah last February, she again found support and encouragement at Life Forward. “There’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. God always has something out there that you can grab.”
