Jamie's Story: Loved, Safe & Known

“Jamie” first called Life Forward early in her pregnancy to find out more information about our parenting education programs as well as material assistance with baby items. As Emily, Life Forward Client Services Team Member, began talking with her and describing our programs, Jamie was excited about participating in Life Forward’s group parenting sessions.

Knowing that the next round of classes wouldn’t start for a few weeks, Emily asked Jamie if she could send her a Client Care Package with some items to help during her pregnancy. That’s when Jamie shared with Emily that she was staying at a women’s shelter and had escaped her home due to domestic violence. Jamie said that she was able to receive mail there and that she would love to have a care package sent to her. Emily’s heart was touched at Jamie’s willingness to be open to a stranger on the other end of the phone who offered her help and support.

Emily wanted to bless Jamie with items that would also help in her current situation staying in a shelter. In Jamie’s care package Emily included soaps, face wipes, socks, a hair towel as well as some other items that were chosen to remind Jamie that she is loved, safe and known by her Heavenly Father.

Emily has kept in touch with Jamie and she has recently completed Life Forward’s virtual parenting education sessions and will be coming in to pick up needed baby items in preparation for the arrival of her baby.

Whenever our gifted and compassionate Client Services Team members answer the phone, respond to a text or reply to an email, they never really know all of the client’s needs or life circumstances. They listen. They try to help and resource the client. They also look for openings in which they might have the opportunity to share the Gospel. Each contact with a client is a new opportunity to invite her into a relationship with Jesus.

Please join us in praying for Jamie as she goes through this challenging time in her life and prepares to welcome her baby into the world. Please also pray for our dedicated Client Services Team as they seek to shine the light of Christ upon the lives of the women and families Life Forward serves.
