Lauren's Story

“Lauren” first reached out to Life Forward via text message. She felt scared and alone and didn’t know what to do. Friends and family advised her to have an abortion when she found out she was pregnant. She didn’t want to end her baby’s life but she also felt that, because of her life’s circumstances and lack of support, she was unable to raise a baby on her own.

Lauren contacted Life Forward after learning that her baby would have birth defects. Her life was complicated enough, she thought, without having a baby that would need special care. Now she wondered if she’d made a mistake by not having an abortion - but now it was too late.

Hannah, Life Forward’s Assistant Client Services Director, shared with Lauren that there were families out there who would want to love and care for her child. This idea seemed to give Lauren a new sense of hope and she gladly accepted referrals to local adoption agencies. As a follow-up, Hannah also mailed Lauren a care package filled with helpful prenatal items as well as some special treats to encourage Lauren in her pregnancy journey.
